In lay out work it is necessary to scribe lines to indicate the dimensions of the workpiece to be filed or machined. The scriber is a tool used for this purpose. It is made of high carbon steel and is hardened. For drawing clear and sharp lines, the point should be ground and honed frequently for maintaining its sharpness. Generally the point angle of Scriber is 12 Degree to 15 Degree.
